Treating Migraines
Here are a few simple ideas that may help you manage your migraines. Talk with your doctor to consider working them into your daily routine to help manage your attacks. Also, remember to take the time to talk with your doctor about your migraines and migraine management strategies.
Keep TREXIMET close at hand
You never know when a migraine will strike, so be sure to keep TREXIMET close by and take it with you wherever you go.
Refill your prescription when you still have a few doses left, so that you are never without your TREXIMET.
Maintain a regular sleep schedule
Research has shown that it is especially important to maintain a regular sleep pattern. Go to bed around the same time every night, and start each day at approximately the same time, even on weekends. Try to avoid naps or oversleeping.
Reduce stress
Stress is one of the most common migraine triggers. Studies have shown that in response to stress, your body can release hormones that can contribute to the severity and duration of your migraine. It is not only the stress of major traumatic events that can trigger a migraine attack: stress associated with day-to-day activities, such as work, finances, and family obligations, can also lead to migraine headaches. Developing strategies for managing stress can greatly impact the frequency and severity of migraines. Some things that you can do to prevent or relieve stress include:
- Eating healthy
- Being active for at least 30 minutes each day
- Using relaxation techniques (eg, meditation, yoga, etc.)
- Getting adequate sleep
- Identifying and avoiding situations that you associate with stress
Exercise with care
Exercise offers some migraine sufferers relief from their migraine head pain. You should consult your doctor if you want to begin or alter an exercise regimen.
